Tropical Thunder

The best thing about being a Public Relations major: the work we do is creative, fun, and always interesting!

Our PR admin class has been chosen to plan the GCSU athletic auction in the spring! Last week our class split up into 3 groups to compete for the best theme. Our team decided on a Hawaiian/Luau theme that we called "Tropical Thunder." We thought the name was edgy and incorporated "Thunder," our GCSU bobcat mascot.

We started our presentation with a clap of thunder to get the audience's attention. We displayed all of our creative ideas like our hula girl centerpieces, palm tree decorations, and laid back attire. The judges seemed to really enjoy our presentation and appreciate our hard work. In the end, the theme "A Night with the Stars" won the competition. The winning group was really descriptive, thorough, and creative-- I could tell they put a lot of hard work into their theme. Congrats to the winning group! :)

After the theme was chosen, we split into groups to take on the immense task ahead of us. I am in the decorating group because I love designing and being creative! Even though my group didn't win, I am looking forward to expanding on the new theme. I hope we can make this auction more memorable than any other year!
