Last night, Katie and I were invited to a party in the dorms (yes, we finally have some friends now! yay! Katie and I went to the ¨Mercadona¨ and bought ¨vino barato¨(cheap wine)to drink. We met and hung out with our friends Youseff, Nico, Charly, Sema, Maria, Esteban y Teresa. They are really cool y los chicos le gusta beber MUCHO! (the boys like to drink A LOT!) They kept playing American music because they wanted to impress us and make us feel comfortable. Kesha and Lady Gaga are very popular here too haha. The security guard kept getting mad at the boys for turning the music too loud... so we had to move somewhere else so we wouldn´t get in trouble. I got a chance to practice my spanish a lot last night-- its way easier and less intimidating when you have had a drink or 2. Our new spanish friends want us to try to speak spanish to them and they like to speak english to us. Luckily, they are really pacient with us. We didn´t go to sleep until 4:30 last night--typical for us so far. I havent gotten more than 6 hours of sleep in one night since ive been here. I really need a night to relax!
This morning we got to go to ¨El Museo Fallas¨ and saw amazing life-like statues that won design contests in past years. They would build these statues more than 5 stories high on street corners and then later they would burn them. We also had a chance to go to ¨el centro commercial¨ (the mall)today-- which is amazing by the way! They have great stores here! I get so deppressed because I walk into the stores and want to buy everything and I cant :( I did get a pair of tights today because every girl here wears tights and skinny jeans-- never shorts. I totally stick out when I wear shorts and fli flops... oh well! Now I guess I can fit it better. I also bought a spanish magazine (ELLE)and I am so excited to read it!
Right now, Tony (our trip advisor) is buying me a ¨Movile¨ so when he brings it to me, I will post my new number. Its free for all incoming calls. You can also text my regular phone for free but I wont text back porque $$cuesta mucha$$. Later today, Tony wants to show us the beach here. YAY! Its been kind of chilly so far. I brought so many dresses and shorts and I have been wearing jeans and sweaters more than you know. It should warm up in the next few days tho. OH! and my credit card works now! what a relief! I am going to head back to my room though. Hasta luego!
PS. Jess- I hope you have a safe trip to Italy! Love you!
