Where are we? NPI.

I hate that I haven´t been able to keep up with writing on this blog. I feel like I NEVER have a break to sit down and write! Well I know its been a while and I have done soooo much, but I guess I can just talk about the highlights.

So our neighbor, Youssef has kind of turned into our best bud/protector/pen pal. He writes Katie and I notes like ¨Hope you are having a good day¨and really nice things like that. The last note we got was one asking if Katie and I wanted to go to dinner with him at his fave spanish restaurant and then go see ¨Robin Hood¨ in español. He also wrote something in the letter that cracked us up! He literally wrote ¨I asked a few friends to go with me, so if you desire, we could be more.¨ And katie and I were like ummmmm WTF? is he like asking us to be his girlfriends or something?!?! but then we realized that he meant ¨If you want, we can invite more ppl to our little outing.¨ haha (we told him later what that meant and he got kind of embarrassed, but we all laughed about it.) But anyways, we already saw the movie with our class the night before but we agreed to go out for some food (PS the movie was intese but it was kind of hard to follow in another language...)

So we met Youssef and his friends Abel and Laur for dinner wedsnesday night and they told us it would be a 10 minute wait.. but it ended up being close to an hour. It was hilarious watching youssef getting so angry and upset about it. He really wanted to show us a good time and he was getting so frustrated. Katie told him that if we were ever going to get a table, he needed to start being meaner. and he thought she was calling him mean, so he said ¨NO!! You are a meaner!!¨ hahaha we died laughing. After all the waiting (and cursing) we decided to go to a different place for some tapas. They were delish!! and his friends are sooo funny. Laur speaks english very well and was cracking the funniest jokes. At dinner the boys bought us roses cuz they felt bad about the dinner wait time (how sweet of them!) his friends were all joking with him telling him that we wouldnt be friends with him any more. POOR YOUSSEF! Then we went to this festival and then to a Discoteca called ¨tucan¨ because it was an ¨erasmus party¨ which is for people who are traveling around europe studying (or something like that)We all got some ¨chupitas¨aka shots except for youssef, because drinking is against his religion he said. The music at Tucan cracked me up. We heard Kesha, lady Gaga, songs from Grease, ¨jump around!¨ from the 90s and of course their number one hit here called ¨Stereo Love.¨ Throughout the night we were attempting to show each other what words we knew in english and spanish. We were messing with Youssef and told him to say ¨I hit you hard and hurt your heart¨ and that totally confused him. he said those words sound almost exactly the same. He tried practiced it all night. We also tried to get him to say squirrel because apparently thats a really difficult word for spaniards. We had fun listening to them try to pronounce all our difficult words and they had fun doing the same to us.

In our civ. class, we learned the word ¨joder¨witch is ¨f***¨ in english (I hear it ALL the time in the dorms here). We also learned an important one ¨Ni Puta Idea¨ which means ¨I have no f****ing idea¨ which comes in handy a lot as well. We told youssef about that one and he was like ¨dont say that out loud!! ladies dont talk like that! He told us to say NPI instead (haha). When 4 am rolled around, we decided to go back because we all had class in the morning. Katie and I had so much fun with them! def gotta do that again!

Then Friday at 6:30am (blahh) we left for Palma de Mallorca. OMG this place is heaven. The beaches are magnificent and the weather couldnt have been better. Our hotel served the best buffetts ever!! ohhh how I miss the delicious food there! We went to the pool/beach everyday and had a mini hotel party at night! Last night I tried Absinth. ahhh! (dont worry, it doesnt have the hallucination stuff in it anymore or i probably wouldnt have tried it. But it makes me feel like a badass either way. It taste like black licorice and then fire. haha we got a video of that one :) Yesterday, our group went to visit an awesome cave in Palma. It was soo cool! we werent allowed to take pics, but i snuch a few in without getting caught. We also got to ride in a boat in the cave! how freaking cool is that? I wanted to ask the guy if i could row the boat but I chickened out... and he most likely would have said no anyways. haha good times! Anyways, we literally JUST got back and I have so much to do this week :( lots of homework and 2 tests! yikes! I wish we didnt actually have to take classes here!!! oh well. I better get on that.
